Mercy Secondary School Mounthawk, Tralee, Co. Kerry, 2016
The goal of this project is to promote integration in Mercy Secondary School and its wider community.
The team collaborated with Frank Hartnett, a member of the town council, with the hope of receiving permission to build a monument in their town park to symbolize the integration of other nationalities, cultures and creeds. The team organised a cultural week in their school, filled with Zumba class, showing of an international film, bongo lessons and quizzes.
The team's future plan is to work with stone masoner Billy Leen, to produce the monument for their town park. They will continue to organise multi-cultural weeks that will include African drumming, Columbian dancing, international films, and multicultural quizzes.
