Fur Get Me Not

Why We Chose It

We choose this social issue animal welfare because we saw there was many social problems in this area such as puppy farming. Which is people breeding and selling pups that are not medicated and ready to leave their mothers. During covid people bought pets because they were lonely but now covid is over these animals are left home alone for hours on end or the owners don’t want them anymore and people are trying to drop these animal shelters which are reaching full capacity. We thought this was unacceptable and that we want to try put a stop this.

Our Goal

Our big idea was to raise awareness about animal welfare and raise money for Deise Animal Sanctuary. We have raised lots of awareness and hope to raise way more by making posters to put around our school and to do more fundraisers. We aim to achieve for everyone in our school and our area to know about animal welfare in today's society and to raise 1,000 euro for Deise Animal Sanctuary in the next coming months.

Our Innovative Action

We took action in many ways such as awareness campaigns. We raised the awareness by sticking posters around our school with facts about animal welfare in Ireland. We also hosted fundraisers to raise money for our local animal sanctuary called Deise animal sanctuary. We organized a non uniform day in charge two euro per student. We also did other fundraisers for different year groups so far we've raised 316 euro and are working on our other fundraisers at the moment. We've also hosted a pet food drive where we collected animal food for Deise animal sanctuary.

Our Impact

I think our class is making a difference as we raised awareness in our school. We did a food collection where we collected a variety of different pet foods for Deise. This made a positive difference because that allowed us to help and provide them with meals. This had a positive difference because it let the animal shelter spend money on veterinary care and bedding. We had a non uniform day and a TY afternoon. All of these fundraisers raised money for Deise which in turn would make a positive difference. We also empowered people to take action.
