Ours aims are to build awareness and fundraise for local homeless. We want put together help kits to give out to homeless in our community.

Why We Chose It

We chose this social issue for two main reasons. One of our group members is from Egypt and many people in her hometown are struggling to pay for food, water and a home. The other reason we chose this social issue is the homeless crisis in our local area, and we realised we can help these people and improve their quality of life.

Our Goal

Our big idea is to provide our local homeless community with care packages containing basic daily necessities and hot meals which we hope to give out once a week for a period of 3 to 4 weeks. Our goal is to impact as many people as we possibly can to improve their quality of life.

Our Innovative Action

As part of our care package, we helped family in Egypt create food packages for less fortunate people in their area. We helped them decode what they should include. We decided on dry foods such as pasta and rice but also some meat such as chicken. These packages include hibiscus which can be boiled in water for a drink. We made sure to choose foods that were beneficial for peoples health. Overall we held a jumper day to raise money, conducted research, made a poster for the YSI wall, put together our information stale for the Junk Koudure event.

Our Impact

Egypt: We made a difference by making financial donations, holding and participating in fundraisers and spreading awareness of what we are doing. We directly impacted people living in poverty in Egypt by providing them with food and drinks before Ramadan. Overall: We have raised money for Focus Ireland, raised awareness in our school , community and online on the issue. We have educated others on the issue and ways to help.
