Make women feel safe in our community and others.

Our Social Issue

Women's safety

Why We Chose It

Women’s safety impacts everyone, not just women, and we want to make change. With social issues as big as this we can’t just rely on people to do the best they can. Many men never want to hear about any aspect of women’s rights as the take it as a personal attack. Women make up half of earth population and if we can’t protect them in first world countries such as Ireland what can we do? We need to make change and together we can.

Our Goal

We would like to raise awareness about women’s safety and create a safer environment for women in our community by educating people and helping change mindsets. Our goal was to make Women’s Safety Week a nationally recognised as well as making women’s safety a mandatory topic to be implement in schools across Ireland, similar to how RSE is a mandatory topic. We want women’s safety to no longer be considered an attack on men but a promotion of women’s health and well-being.

Our Innovative Action

Some of our actions include; Creating a woman safety week, inviting Sarah Benson CEO of Women’s Aid to give a speech to our school, hiring a self defence instructor to teach basic self defence at our school, hosting five separate fundraisers, raising over €600 for Women’s Aid, creating a website and social media pages, presenting at the 5 Nations Networking Conference 2023, hosting an ethical education work shop for all Educate Together Secondary Schools in Ireland, being interviewed by the Tallaght Echo and receiving €500 funding from the Young Social Innovators den to create a radio advertisement.

Our Impact

We have made a positive personal impact on at least 400 people, with a less personal, but equally as positive impact on over 25,000 people. We have done this by outsourcing to our local newspaper, Presenting at the five nations networking conference and creating and hosting an entire activity field women’s safety week in our school to which we invited parents and guardians to come and also learn about the importance of women‘s safety.
