Raise money for our cause Educate young men in our community and reshape them Change perspectives and stereotypes Make our community a safer and more postitive environment
Our Social Issue
The social issue we've chosen to address in our community is the importance of positive masculinity as it while encourage the men in our community to embrace better qualities like empathy, kindness and respect and also uproot them to help them discuss their emotions and be their best selves without being influenced by toxic role models and unreal expectations set by social media.
Why We Chose It
We chose our project, ‘Men of Honour’ because we are a part of an All Boys school and we feel boys today are struggling to define their masculinity in an ever changing society. Healthy masculinity is a positive force in the world, which is the message we aim to project through our ‘Men Of Honour’ initiative. We want to challenge the traditional stereotypes around masculinity, but also uphold its meaning and significance. Through our research we realised that many young men feel stuck, lost, angry, confused and they struggle to find positive role models.
Our Goal
ur big idea for the initiative is that healthy masculinity will be at the foremost in this ever-changing world. Our goal for this project is to redefine our school community and the way young men in our community act and think. Another goal we have for this project is for all men young and old to be able and not have to fear the stigma to express their emotions.
Our Innovative Action
One of the first action we took was implementing the Role Model of the Month initiative. Another action that we have taken is Letter of the term, which is highlighting and celebrating the achievements of students and all that is good and inspiring in our school community. We also had some of our Men of Honour students participate and go and help with St Francis special school. We wrote a report for the Killarney outlook, Our lets talk initiative on social media. Organised a talk with Cormac Noonan. Planning and implementing A Mens Circle. Social media posts regulary exc
