To create connections and share stories and memories with the older generations. To design, create and publish "Timeless Ties" book which will contain memories, pictures, poetry, stories and recipes from the local nursing home. The money made from this book will be donated to Age Action.

Bridging the gap between the younger and older generation.
Why We Chose It
We chose the social issue as we hope to help close the gap that was created as communities are still getting over the pandemic and we hope that we can do our bit in the community to help. As young people we are incredibly interested in learning about the older generations and the knowledge that they have to offer to us.
Our Goal
Our idea for our YSI project is to bridge the gap between the older and the younger generation in our local community. In order to achieve this we have decided to create a book called ‘Timeless Ties’. The contents of this book will contain stories, recipes, poetry, etc, from the older generation in our community. Our goal with this book is to sell it in the local nursing home and make elderly people more closely connected with us.
Our Innovative Action
We have organised an afternoon tea event for all grandparents in the school. We have dropped down to the local nursing home to make connections with the residents and give personalised Share a Prayer cards. We engaged with the YSI Den and received funding. We are now in the process of publishing the "Timeless Ties" book and organising technology workshops
Our Impact
Timeless Ties has made a huge impact in the lives in of the older generation in our locality. We have already made lovely connections and special memories with the grandparents of our school community. We made these connections through our afternoon tea event in the school and provided tea, biscuits and friendly chats. We also have made connections with the residents of the local nursing home by collecting stories, poems and recipes for our book "Timeless Ties".
