Achieve Pieta House Amber Flag and improve mental health in the school
Our Social Issue
Mental Health in the school
Why We Chose It
We picked mental health because it's a big deal in our school. We see how it affects everyone around us, from friends to classmates. We noticed that when people aren't feeling good mentally, it really messes with everything, like schoolwork and friendships. This pushed us to do something about it. We want our school to be a place where everyone feels understood and supported, especially when they're going through tough times mentally. So, we chose mental health as our focus because we genuinely want to make things better for everyone in our school.
Our Goal
Our big idea is to create a supportive environment where everyone feels understood and valued when it comes to mental health. Our goal is to raise awareness about mental health issues in our school and community and provide support and resources for those who need it. We aim to break the stigma surrounding mental health and promote kindness and understanding. Ultimately, we hope to improve the overall well-being of students and create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels safe and supported. Through our efforts, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.
Our Innovative Action
To tackle mental health issues in our school, we initiated various actions. We began by organizing events like Kindness Week, where we plan to promote positive mental health through activities and initiatives. Collaborating with Pieta House, we're gearing up for a charity walk to raise funds and awareness. We've also arranged workshops with Drum Dance Ireland to explore the therapeutic benefits of music and movement. Although our partnership with Aware Ireland's Life Skills for Schools Program hasn't started yet, we're eager to equip students with essential tools for managing challenges.
Our Impact
Through our efforts, we've positively impacted our school community. By organizing events like the festive tournament during Christmas and collaborating with Drum Dance Ireland for Wellbeing Week, we've provided opportunities for students to destress and connect. Our initiatives aim to promote inclusivity and support, fostering a sense of belonging among peers. Additionally, our upcoming Kindness Week, charity walk, and future Life Skills Program with Aware Ireland are poised to further enhance mental health awareness and resilience. By actively engaging in these activities, we're creating a school culture where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to prioritize their wellbeing.
