Create awareness among school and wider community of food waste and shortages. We hope to reduce food waste in our community. We want to encourage supermarkets to donate to food banks. We also plan on educating others about the importance of food waste and how to prevent it.
Our Social Issue
Create awareness, set up food banks, raise awareness of food waste. Create Oddity boxes for super markets to sell from. Workshops for younger years on how to grow your own veg/food
Why We Chose It
Because we noticed that it was prevalent in our local community, and we wanted to do something about the issue.
Our Goal
Our idea was to reduce food waste and food poverty, raise awareness about food poverty, raise awareness about food poverty , the dangers and how common it is and how to avoid it with our cookbook which is entirely made from recipes you can make from leftover dishes. We hoped to achieve less food poverty in our local communities, and raise awareness about it.
Our Innovative Action
The actions our team has taken have been, teaching younger students about the importance of not wasting their food and telling them about the risks of food poverty on the community. our team have come together and produced a high quality cook book that shows you ways to make meals out of leftover food example banana bread, porridge pancakes etc… making the cook book wasn't the only idea we had but is what we thought would be the best for the community
Our Impact
We taught younger years about how to reduce food waste and how important it is to not waste food. We showcased many ways to reuse foods that were originally going to be thrown out with our recipes and recipe book, featuring recipes such as porridge pancakes, banana bread with mushy bananas that would have originally been thrown out. So in summary we educated youth and showcased recipes to make sure food reduction is slowed down.
