To provide essential items for homeless people.
Our Social Issue
The social issue we have chosen to address is homelessness.
Why We Chose It
We chose this social issue as we felt very passionately about homelessness after doing the sleep out at school as we really felt what it was like to be homeless put in the cold for a night and it was horrible, cold and lonely so we wanted to do everything we could to help. Focus Ireland also really inspired us as they came in to talk to us about what they do and the shocking statistics of those homeless in Ireland and all their stories so we chose this social issue.
Our Goal
Our big idea is to help homeless people in Dublin with their basic needs so they don’t need to worry about those things and can focus on bigger things like what their next accommodation will be and their next meal so we are hoping that with our justice packs we can get at least some weight off their backs. We are hoping that the homeless people can recognise that we care about them and a lot of other people do too.
Our Innovative Action
We have fundraised by selling hand-made earring and bracelets and we are also planning on doing a bake sale to raise more money. We have bought all the supplies for the homeless and are starting to give them out. We have asked the students in our school to bring in non perishable items for the justice packs. We have made announcements throughout the school telling them about our cause. We have made lots of posts and TikTok’s about the issue so people are more aware and we are putting up posters around the school to spread awareness.
Our Impact
Our team has made a positive difference by improving the homeless people’s lives as we have shown that we care about them by giving them all the necessary supplies that can help them in their lives even just a little as it will help them stay that little bit warmer, that little bit safer at the harsh cold temperatures in the street, that little bit more hygienic with all the new products we are giving them and most of all we are making them feel like we and the rest of the world actually care for them.
