By doing this project, we hope to bring awareness to the issues of underrepresentation of women in medical trials, the lack of research on women’s health issues and the discrimination of women in the medical field. We hope by addressing these we can help bring change in the medical environment while encouraging young girls to pursue careers in the medical field. We hope to help stop inequality in this area and educate those in our school and the wider community about issues surrounding women in science. Many young women today hope to pursue careers in STEM, and we are hoping that by addressing these issues, they will be informed about the contributions that women have made to science, as well as some barriers that may affect them, should they choose to pursue a career in this area.
Our Social Issue
We have chosen to address the issue of women in science. We are particularly interested in the underrepresentation of women in medical trials, the lack of research on women’s health issues and the discrimination of women in the medical field.
Why We Chose It
Our big idea is to inspire more young girls and women to get involved in science and medicine. We aim to teach young girls what they can do before the world teaches them what they can’t do. Our goal is to decrease inequality and sexism by increasing the number of women in the medical field. We hope that by raising awareness about how the lack of research on female specific health problems affects the health care women receive we will inspire young girls to get involved in the research aspect of medicine.

Our Innovative Action
On our journey so far we have aspired to raise awareness about our topic and inspire younger girls to get involved in the scientific and medical field. We have gone about this by; writing, recording, editing and publishing our own Podcast on Spotify. Creating an Instagram and TikTok page to update and share our workings. We have also organised and led workshops in a Girl guide group and have an upcoming workshop in a local primary school. During these workshops we run fun, engaging activities to show that science can be interesting for all.
Our Impact
Thanks to the Rosalind Project we have been able to get more involved in our community and make a positive difference. Through our workshops, in both a local primary school and a girl guides group. We have shown young girls how science can be both interesting and fun, we have also shared with them the sexism in these fields. We have inspired young girls to get involved in science and to think about this path for their future careers. We have been able to raise awareness about the discrimination and sexism in the medical environment through our social media platforms.
