Why We Chose It

We chose homelessness in Kildare as our YSI project because it is a growing issue that impacts many individuals in our local community. While homelessness may not always be visible, it affects people of all ages and backgrounds. By focusing on Kildare, we wanted to make a direct impact on those facing homelessness in our area. This issue is important to us, and we believe that by raising awareness and providing support, we can help create positive change. We hope to inspire others to take action and make a difference in their own communities as well.

Our Goal

Our project aims to raise awareness about homelessness in Kildare and support those in need. We organized a bake sale, with all proceeds going to charities that assist the homeless. We created posters with key information about homelessness and displayed them at school to educate our peers. Additionally, we launched a social media account to share ways our followers can help in their communities and highlight charities accepting donations for the homeless. Through these efforts, we hope to raise awareness, encourage others to take action, and contribute to easing the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness.

Our Innovative Action

We created an Instagram account (@here2help.ysi) to raise awareness and support for homelessness in our community. Through this platform, we shared information, updates, and promoted fundraising events. We also conducted a survey at school, gathering over 70 responses to better understand public perceptions and misconceptions about homelessness, which helped refine our approach. To raise funds, we organized a successful bake sale, raising €160, which will be donated to a local agency supporting the homeless. Through these efforts, we aimed to provide financial support, spark conversations, and inspire others to act and become more aware of homelessness.

Our Impact

My team has made a positive impact by giving money to a charity organization that assists in combating homelessness. We hope that we can provide them with items like food, shelter, and blankets. We want to give people the ability to inspire them, hopefully someday they can pay it forward. We wish to make a difference, and we count on your support. Every donation supports the charity's valuable work. It's our act that we are concerned about our community. At school, we are thrilled to be part of this program, raising awareness and inspiring compassion. Together, we can create a ripple effect
