Our goal is to bridge the generational divide by creating meaningful connections, fostering mutual understanding, and improving digital inclusion for older people.
Our Social Issue
Loneliness and digital exclusion among older generations, leading to social isolation and a lack of meaningful connections between young and old.

Why We Chose It
We chose intergenerational connection because we saw how loneliness affects older people, with 58% experiencing it regularly. Some of us have strong relationships with our grandparents, while others realised we don’t talk to them enough. Friends who had lost grandparents told us they wished they had asked more questions and spent more time together. We wanted to change that—not just for ourselves, but for our community. Endless Conversations ensures that older voices are heard, valued, and respected while giving young people the chance to learn life lessons that can’t be found in a textbook or online.

Our Goal
Our project, Endless Conversations, is about bridging the gap between young people and older generations through meaningful interactions. We want to ensure elderly voices are heard, valued, and preserved through storytelling and digital literacy. By creating structured opportunities for conversation, we aim to combat loneliness, improve digital skills, and strengthen community ties. This isn’t just about teaching technology—it’s about exchanging knowledge, sharing experiences, and forming real relationships. Our goal is to expand the project, involve more schools and community groups, and make these intergenerational connections a lasting part of our culture.
Our Innovative Action
We launched Endless Conversations to bring young people and older generations together through storytelling and digital literacy. Grandparents’ Day – We organised a school event where students and their grandparents shared stories, enjoyed music, and connected over tea and baking. Interviews – We visited elderly participants to record their experiences, ensuring their voices were heard. Digital Literacy Training – Partnering with ALONE, we completed online training and are now teaching older participants how to use tablets, send messages, and make video calls. Community Collaboration – We partnered with KCYS Kerry, Killorglin Men’s Shed, and Women 2000 to expand our impact.
Our Impact
Through Endless Conversations, we have built real connections between young and old, helping to combat loneliness and bridge the generational gap. For Older Participants – Many have gained confidence in using technology, making video calls and staying connected with family. They’ve shared personal stories, feeling heard and valued in ways they hadn’t before. For Students – We’ve gained a greater appreciation for older generations, changed how we interact with our own grandparents, and developed leadership, communication, and organisational skills. For Our Community – We’ve strengthened intergenerational ties, ensuring that these conversations continue beyond this project.
