To make a sustainable thrift shop that will help the community and our environment and donate all profits to charity (UNICEF) and help children that are suffering in Gaza (Palestine).

Why We Chose It

We chose these social issues because, as teenagers, witnessing the widespread reliance on fast-fashion and its negative impacts on both the environment and our generation motivated us. Additionally, the situation in Palestine resonated with us, as Irish people, because we understand the struggles of colonization from our own history. This shared experience fueled our passion for supporting the children of Gaza, who are suffering tremendously, especially with the lack of action from world-leaders. We are proud of our Irish heritage and our commitment to standing on the right side of history, which inspired us to take action.

Our Goal

Our big idea is for the thrift shop to continue for years, becoming an ongoing initiative adopted by our school. We aim to encourage students to embrace reusing clothes, benefiting both their wallets and the environment. Our goal is to promote sustainability by avoiding fast fashion and supporting thrifting. Another key goal is to help the children of Gaza by raising funds to make a positive impact. As the new generation, we stand in solidarity with Palestine, understanding their struggles through our Irish history of colonization. We hope this project will raise regular funds for children in need.

Our Innovative Action

We have taken many actions so far and are very proud of them. We carefully planned everything, divided the tasks equally among our team, collected a large amount of clothes, and promoted our thrift shop effectively through social media, posters, intercom announcements, and by visiting classrooms. Now, our final step is to open the thrift shop itself, and to donate profits to UNICEF.

Our Impact

We believe that we have made a difference in many students' lives by encouraging them to donate clothes instead of throwing them away. Many students shared with us that our initiative motivated them to organize their closets as they had many items they never wore and donate them so other people can benefit from them, hearing these comments made us truly happy. We are confident that, in the future, once our thrift shop is up and running, we will make an even greater impact on the lives of children in Gaza, providing them with food and essentials.
