Why We Chose It

We feel very passionately about this cause because we all know elderly people who may be lonely, and we all feel that we should be raising awareness of loneliness for people who can't do it for themselves.

Preventing Loneliness in the Elderly Community

Our Goal

Our big idea is to raise awareness of loneliness in the elderly community. We aim to encourage people in our community to look out for the elderly people in their lives, and to check in on their family members and friends who may need company.

Our Innovative Action

We worked together to think of an idea for our project. We organised to send Christmas cards to the residents of a local nursing home. We have made students more aware of the issue of elderly loneliness. We organised an awareness week in school. We helped to organise Grandparents Day in school. We organised a bake sale to raise money. We raised money for the charity ALONE.

Our Impact

We made a positive impact on the day of many care home residents by sending Christmas cards, we hope that this meant that people who may not have family members still received Christmas cards. With helping to organise Grandparents' Day, we made a lot of grandparents feel like part of the school community. We donated money to the charity ALONE that aim to help older people who may not regularly receive visitors.
