The team hopes to foster a lasting culture of kindness and positivity by encouraging individuals to perform good deeds and pass them on through the “Ripple Effect-Paying It Forward” concept. The team aims to create a ripple effect, where each act of kindness inspires another and others, ultimately strengthening community bonds and spreading goodwill. By incorporating groups, organisations, and businesses, the team seeks to create a larger network of support that shows the power of collective action. The digital link to the website with pin drops and uploaded messages can show participants of the project how important these random acts of kindness are and how kindness can spread out into the community and beyond inspiring hope and positivity.
Our Social Issue
The team has chosen to address the issue of isolation, disconnection within communities. In today’s world, many people feel disconnected or isolated, and this project seeks to promote kindness, empathy, and positive connections among individuals, particularly within schools, businesses, and local organisations.
Why We Chose It
In a world that often focuses on division, the selfless acts of kindness by Malcolm reminded us of the power of generosity and connection. Inspired by his compassion, we decided to set up a Pay It Forward project to spread kindness and create a ripple effect of goodwill. Small gestures can have a profound impact, lifting others and fostering a sense of unity. By encouraging people to help others without expecting anything in return, we hope to build a community rooted in empathy, support, and hope, proving that kindness can truly change the world, one act at a time.
Our Goal
The project’s goal is twofold: first, to spread kindness worldwide by encouraging individuals to perform and share acts of goodwill, creating a global network of compassion. Second, it aims to visually record each act—as a pin drop—to demonstrate how these small gestures can build up into a tsunami of positive change. Our big idea is to transform everyday acts of kindness into a visible movement. When someone does something nice, they scan a QR code that logs their gesture as a “pin drop” on our digital map. This shows how small acts can ripple into significant change. We hope to inspire
Our Innovative Action
We have asked that the our local youth club junior committee to make a proposal to their members too come on board and take part in our initiative, if this proves a successful venture it is our intention to approach the the regional council to consider introducing our initiative to their stewardship and citizenship activities.
Our Impact
Through this project, we’ve made a real difference by working together and building our teamwork and leadership skills. Organising the Pay It Forward project has helped us learn how to support and encourage each other while making people’s lives a little brighter. Along the way, we’ve built lasting friendships and created a community based on kindness. Seeing the happiness from those who received help was amazing, but hearing how good it made people feel to do kind deeds was just as rewarding. This has shown us that even small acts of kindness can have a huge impact.
