Paws For Thought

Our big idea is to create a world where animals are treated with kindness, respect, and compassion, advocating against animal abuse and mistreatment. Our goals focus on raising awareness about the realities of animal cruelty, educating the public, and promoting responsible pet ownership. Through fundraising efforts, like selling dog treats, we aim to support local shelters and organizations such as Limerick Animal Welfare, ensuring they have the resources to care for animals in need. We also strive to engage the community, particularly within schools, to build a compassionate network of supporters for animal welfare.

Our Social Issue

Our Issues of Social Concern are Animal abuse, Neglect and mistreatment. They present a range of social concerns, touching on ethical, emotional, legal, and practical issues. Ethically, there is a moral responsibility to protect animals, whose suffering from abuse and neglect is compounded by their inability to advocate for themselves. Many animals experience severe trauma, including physical harm and emotional distress, which can lead to aggressive behaviors or anxiety. The link between animal abuse and human violence raises public safety concerns, as those who harm animals are more likely to harm people. Abandoned animals lead to overpopulation in shelters, strays in communities, and increased costs for healthcare and rehabilitation. These issues place a strain on animal welfare organizations, volunteers, and resources, making it difficult to address the vast needs of animals suffering from abuse or abandonment. Ultimately, resolving these concerns requires stronger legislation, public education, and a shift in societal attitudes toward animals.

Why We Chose It

We chose to focus on animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment because these issues often go unnoticed, yet they cause immense suffering for many animals. By raising awareness, we aim to shed light on these injustices and encourage the community to take action.
