Our Social Issue
The lack of digital resources available to Junior Certificate students and the inequality that comes with affording the resources that are there (e.g. price)
Why We Chose It
We chose this issue as when we studied for our Junior Certificate, we did not find as many resources as we liked to. Moreover, our teachers did not give us a sufficient number of resources for proper study. We know that a lot of the other schools are disadvantaged as they may not be able to afford resources like exam papers. We would like to be one of the first to provide free, high-quality resources.
Our Goal
Our plans right now are to create more resources for more chapters, as we are dealing with dense Junior Certificate curriculums. We will post notes, videos and, in the future, quizzes. We may use Google Forms or code these quizzes into the website to reinforce students’ learning of the curriculum. We will post any videos on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube platforms to grow our social media presence. As we progress, we may refine the website further for development.
Our Innovative Action
Created a comprehensive website using HTML, CSS and JS displaying our project Provided resources in JC Maths, Science and Business Studies that are high-quality and free of charge. Posted videos on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. Created a Discord server to start a community of Junior Certificate students.
Our Impact
We have helped provide Junior Certificate students with resources for Junior Cert Maths, Science and Business Studies by making them accessible and completely free of charge. Moreover, we helped those in our community by teaching them concepts in simple language (e.g. Maths Clinic and helping struggling JC Science students).
