Salary: €30,000-35,000

The Opportunity
Young Social Innovators (YSI) is a non-profit organisation that believes in the power of youth. Its vision is to empower, equip and inspire young people to change the world for good. Through its programmes, training and events, Young Social Innovators enables young people to grapple with difficult social issues, advocating reform and advancing change. Each year, circa 15,000 young people are supported to explore social and environmental issues that concern them and come up with a variety of responses to these. In this way, Young Social Innovators builds social capital and helps young people create a fairer and more caring Ireland connecting into a wider global movement for change.
As part of YSI’s Education team, the Events Officer will coordinate and deliver our busy schedule of regional and national events. They will work closely with the Activate Programme Manager to ensure the social innovation experience of young people engaged in our Activate Programme is world class. Activate is YSI’s core programme, engaging thousands of young people annually in youth led, process based, experiential learning. This position is a critical role within Young Social Innovators working to maintain the status of YSI’s flagship Activate programme. This includes ensuring the smooth delivery of all associated events that are key to the experience of the Activate Programme, including the annual Speak Out Tour, corporate events and the Young Social Innovators Awards. The Events Officer will also offer support to the wider Team to deliver high quality event experiences for young people and educators as required.
We are looking for a highly motivated, creative and dynamic individual with great attention to detail and a desire to deliver high quality experiences for young people.
Key responsibilities:
Event Coordination
- Coordinate and execute the planning and delivery of online and live events, in particular The YSI Speak Out Tour, corporate events and the YSI Awards.
- Manage scheduling, invitations, bookings, photo consent forms and registration processes.
- Coordinate and deliver online events, including troubleshooting to ensure smooth experience for participants, stakeholders and sponsors.
- Draft speech notes and MC scripts.
- Arrange travel, catering and accommodation for those supporting live events.
- Coordinate and liaise with event contractors, vendors, venues and speakers to ensure the success of YSI events.
- Coordinate budget and contractual arrangements in consultation with and sign off from the Activate Programme Manager.
- Ensure high quality, inclusive, event delivery and superior stakeholder event experiences.
- Ensure YSI events comply with child safeguarding processes and are GDPR compliant.
YSI Youth Panel and TY Work Experience Programme
- Administrative support for YSI’s Youth Panel and its weeklong TY Work Experience Programme, including setting up and disseminating Zoom links for online meetings, technical arrangements for hybrid meetings, workshop set up for in person meetings.
- Administrative support including communications with parents/ young people, coordinating parental consent and attending all TY Work Experience sessions (1 week per year) and Youth Panel sessions (6-9 sessions per year).
- Writing and disseminating Youth Panel meeting Minutes.
General
- Provide event support across the organisation as required, including ad hoc travel, catering and accommodation arrangements for the Education and wider YSI Team.
- Work closely with the Education Officer to ensure a world class experience for Activate participants, educators and programme sponsors.
- Ensuring Activate and its associated webpages are up to date. Ad hoc website content assistance and social media assistance, with support from the Communications Manager.

Additional
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a similar events/coordination type role
- Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated experience of project management
- Experience in budget management and reporting is desirable
- Experience working with contracts is desirable
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite is essential
- Experience working with Google suite and Trello project management is desirable
- Ability to work quickly and effectively on own initiative
- A proactive and positive attitude to work is essential along with a willingness to contribute to a positive work culture and environment
- A genuine interest working in the non-profit sector and with/on behalf of young people is essential
- Ability to work under pressure managing and prioritising multiple projects simultaneously.
- A full clean driver’s license is desirable.
Location: DCU Alpha, Glasnevin, Dublin 11. Travel throughout March each year will be required to support the work. Some weekend/evening flexibility required to attend Youth Panel workshops (approx 6-9 workshops per year).
