Andrei, 16, Dublin
Inspired by the goal of preventing the spread of coronavirus, Andrei, 16, from Dublin has used tech for good to create his idea for the YSI Open Call!
Andrei learned about how the virus has the potential to spread when people touch a surface with the virus on it, then touch their face. With this in mind, he developed the idea of FaceTouch, an app designed to deter people from the habit of touching their faces!
The app works by using sensors to show how often people touch their faces, often absentmindedly, during a day. His idea is particularly targeted at people who go out of their homes for groceries or exercise and front line workers who may be in contact with multiple people throughout the day.
This issue is important to Andrei because he wants to help the wider community to reduce the spread of coronavirus. He hopes his idea can contribute to preventing the number of cases and accelerate the return to normality.
