Cathal, 13, Cavan
Highlighting the importance of each of us helping out in whatever way we can, 13-year old Cahal's idea is to design an app that would allow "people who want to help" with "people who need help" at the touch of a button in communities in Cavan.
Cathal developed his idea from the inspiration of learning about technology for good at school and he hopes that it can be developed to support communities living in the midst of Covid-19.

Making use of technology is a great way to stay connected and to ensure that anyone who needs help in the community can access support as safely and as quickly as possible. Cathal says an example would be if an older person would like the local newspaper or is in need of groceries, they can submit their request through the app and someone who is available in their local area can deliver the items safely.
Cathal believes it is important to support people in the community and his idea ensures that local people can help each other in a fast, friendly and efficient way. The idea has already evolved in to a prototype app and is being tested along with Caven County Council in Cathal's community! If successful, Cathal says he'd like to explore the use of drones to deliver items to those in need.
