Rebecca, 17, Louth
Inspired by our frontline workers, Rebecca, 17, from Louth, came up with the idea of supporting Health Care Assistants (HCAs) during the current pandemic.
The daughter of a HCA, Rebecca has seen first-hand the challenges the pandemic presents and the difficulties these stressful times have caused.

To raise awareness about the work of HCAs, her idea is to create a public campaign and short documentary, using data collected from carers around Ireland. Through the documentary, Rebecca wants to share various issues HCAs face in their line of work - from access to PPE to effects on mental health. Rebecca believes that HCAs are some of the most at-risk frontline staff during this time, yet they tend to receive little media recognition.
Alongside the campaign and documentary, Rebecca wants to set up a Non-Profit charity with HCAs - she suggests that this could provide financial support, mental health support, or even supporting other organisations who care for our nation's carers.
Rebecca wants to educate the public about the fantastic work HCAs carry out, during the pandemic and beyond - she believes her idea will make sure our healthcare workers are not #forgottenheroes.
